Funding & grants
Fund up to 75% of your training and consulting investment
Canadian organizations can access provincial and federal programs that cover a significant portion of operational improvement and workforce development costs. We help you identify the right programs, prepare your application materials, and review your submission before it goes in.
How it works
How we help with funding
Your organization owns the application. We guide you through it: identifying the right programs, preparing your documentation, and reviewing your submission before it goes in.
Identify the right programs
We review your organization type, size, province, and improvement objectives and match you to the federal and provincial programs most likely to succeed.
Prepare your application
We help you build the application package: training plans, cost breakdowns, supporting documentation. We review your final submission before it goes in to make sure it is complete and well-positioned.
Deliver and claim
Training or consulting is delivered per the approved plan. We help you compile the completion documentation so you can file your reimbursement claim and receive the funds.
Training funding
Government programs for workforce development
These programs help Canadian employers offset the cost of upskilling their teams in Lean, Six Sigma, digital, and AI capabilities.
Provincial Job Grants
Province-specificCanada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG)
Accepting applicationsThe Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides direct financial support to employers who invest in training for their workforce. The grant covers a significant share of training costs for short-duration, skills-based programs.
Example
A Green Belt certification program costing $4,500 per employee could be funded at $3,000 per trainee through COJG, reducing your net cost to $1,500.
Alberta Training Benefit Fund (ATBF) / Canada-Alberta Job Grant
Accepting applicationsThe Canada-Alberta Job Grant subsidizes employer-sponsored training for Alberta workers. It supports skills development in operational improvement, digital adoption, and leadership, directly aligned with LEA's certification programs. The Alberta Training Benefit Fund extends this support for eligible sectors including healthcare and manufacturing.
Example
An Alberta healthcare organization training a cohort of 8 staff in White and Yellow Belt could receive up to $5,333 per participant, covering the majority of program fees.
BC ITA Employer Training Subsidy (ETS) / Canada-BC Job Grant
Accepting applicationsThe Canada-BC Job Grant helps BC employers fund workforce training. Employers pay a share of eligible training costs, with the government covering the remainder. The BC ITA Employer Training Subsidy complements this for apprenticeable and trades-adjacent training. Available to private sector businesses and non-profits operating in British Columbia.
Example
A BC manufacturer training 5 employees in Green Belt certification at $4,500 each could receive up to $3,000 per trainee, reducing the total training cost by $15,000.
Saskatchewan Workforce Training (STEP) / Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant
Accepting applicationsSaskatchewan employers can access the Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant for employer-sponsored training. The Saskatchewan Training Tax Credit (STTC) and STEP programs provide additional support for employers training workers in eligible skills including process improvement and digital capabilities.
Example
A Saskatchewan manufacturer running a Yellow Belt cohort of 6 employees could access up to $3,000 per participant, covering the majority of per-seat certification costs.
Manitoba Training Tax Credit / Canada-Manitoba Job Grant
Accepting applicationsManitoba employers can access the Canada-Manitoba Job Grant for workforce training costs. The Manitoba Training Tax Credit (MTTC) provides an additional refundable credit for companies investing in eligible employee training, including Lean, continuous improvement, and skills development programs.
Example
A Winnipeg logistics company training 4 staff in Lean could stack the Canada-Manitoba Job Grant (up to $3,000 per trainee) with the Manitoba Training Tax Credit to significantly reduce net training costs.
Quebec Workforce Skills Development (Loi du 1%) / Canada-Quebec Job Grant
Accepting applicationsQuebec has one of Canada's most robust employer training frameworks. The Act to Foster the Development of Manpower Training (Loi du 1%) requires employers with payrolls over $2M to invest at least 1% of payroll in training or remit the difference to the Workforce Skills Development Fund. LEA programs qualify as eligible training investments under this legislation.
Example
A Montreal manufacturer with a $5M payroll can apply its mandatory $50,000 training obligation toward LEA certification programs, effectively converting a regulatory requirement into a competitive capability investment.
Federal Programs
NationalCanada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)
Accepting applicationsCDAP helps Canadian small and medium-sized businesses adopt digital technologies. The program provides grants and subsidized advisory services to develop a digital adoption plan and implement digital solutions.
Example
An SME manufacturer could receive $15,000 toward a digital maturity assessment and AI readiness plan, then access a $100,000 interest-free loan to implement the recommendations.
Scale AI Workforce Development
Accepting applicationsScale AI, a federal supercluster, funds workforce development initiatives that build AI and supply chain capabilities across Canadian organizations. Funding covers training delivery and curriculum development.

Municipal Government
Canada Job Grant programs are available to municipalities and public sector organizations in most provinces. Lean belt certification and process improvement training qualify in Ontario, Alberta, and BC.
Libraries
Public library systems qualify for Canada Job Grant funding in most provinces. White, Yellow, and Green Belt programs for library operations and service delivery staff are eligible costs.
Manufacturing
COJG, AMIC, and IRAP are frequently used by Ontario manufacturers to offset Lean certification, digital adoption, and process improvement consulting costs.
“Our experience with Leading Edge was exceptional, and the additional supports and excellent follow-up we received from the team ensured that we completed our projects and were able to sustain the improvements that had been made, demonstrating their commitment to creating continuous improvement learners. It is wonderful to now see and hear Lean approaches and tools being applied in other contexts outside of our projects, as the value of Lean is recognized across the agency and process improvements continue to be actualized.”

FAQ
Funding questions
We guide your organization through the process. That means identifying programs you are likely to qualify for, helping you build the application package (training plans, cost breakdowns, supporting documents), and reviewing your final submission before it goes in. Your organization submits and owns the application. We make sure it is complete and well-positioned.
It depends on your province. Ontario organizations can access the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG), which covers up to $10,000 per trainee. BC, Alberta, and other provinces have equivalent programs (CBCJG, CAJG). CDAP and Scale AI are federal programs available coast to coast for digital and AI-related training. We will match you to the right programs for your situation.
In some cases, yes. For example, you can use COJG for training costs and IRAP for consulting costs within the same improvement initiative. We help identify stacking opportunities during the eligibility conversation.
COJG applications are typically approved within 4 to 6 weeks. IRAP and FedDev timelines vary but generally take 8 to 12 weeks. We recommend starting the process at least 6 weeks before your planned start date.
Short-duration, skills-based training delivered by an eligible third-party provider. All LEA belt certification programs (White through Black Belt), Digital and AI training, and sustainability programs meet the eligibility criteria for most provincial job grants.
