The Lean Healthcare White Belt is the starting point for healthcare professionals who want to understand what Lean is, why it matters in a care environment, and how to contribute to improvement projects taking place in their organization. It is accessible to any role: clinical, administrative, or support.
Participants come away with a grounding in Lean thinking, an ability to identify waste in their own work processes, and the confidence to contribute when their organization runs a Lean improvement event.

What Lean is, its goals and origins, and how it applies to care delivery across hospitals, long-term care, and community health.
Value, Waste, and the Five Principles
The five Lean principles, value-added versus non-value-added activity, and the eight types of waste as they appear in healthcare workflows.
Core Tools for Care Teams
An introduction to Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), A3 thinking, root cause analysis, Gemba walks, 5S workplace organization, mistake-proofing, visual management, and standard work in a healthcare context.
