AI-Ready Lean Practitioner Program

AI does not replace your Lean practice. It makes it sharper.

You have spent years learning to frame a problem, read a process, run a Kaizen, and coach a team. That structured thinking is exactly what makes AI useful in the right hands. A lot of AI training focuses on the tool itself. This program focuses on where it fits the improvement work you already do, and where your judgment has to stay in charge.

Built for practitioners at any belt level who want to use AI purposefully in real improvement work, not in the abstract.

What participants say

Well structured and practical. It reinforced where AI supports Lean work and where the practitioner's judgment has to lead. The CRAFT framework and the emphasis on the Gemba walk stood out. I'd recommend it to anyone combining AI with Lean.

Ahmed Kassad, CBAP, PMI-ACP Business Systems Analyst, City of Cambridge

Overall, this course gave me the confidence and tools to use AI as an assistant rather than a fact finder or to fully write and execute a task. AI can give wrong information and make up facts. This course taught me how to create a proper prompt in AI to get the right information while still validating the information I provide. Knowing I am still the content owner, gives me confidence that AI is assisting my job, not taking it over. This is such a great tool to have!

Watch

A quick look inside the program

A short introduction to how AI for Lean Practitioners connects AI to the improvement work you already do, with your judgment in the lead.

Watch next How Lean practitioners are using AI

Why this program

Built for how Lean practitioners actually work

Most practitioners are already piloting AI; few are pointing it at the improvement work itself. In our health-sector benchmark, just 2 of about 100 respondents named the improvement work as where they apply AI. The constraint is capability and practice, not access.

You will not learn AI in the abstract. Every module connects to the tools and frameworks you already use, PDCA, value stream mapping, A3, 5 Whys, and standard work, and shows exactly where AI adds value and where it does not.

Grounded in practice

Every example comes from real improvement work, not generic technology demos.

Judgment first

You learn where AI helps and where practitioner judgment must stay in the lead.

Immediately applicable

Tools and prompts you can use on your next project, in any sector.

Learning outcomes

What you will be able to do

By the end of the program, you will be able to use AI responsibly and effectively to support your improvement work. Specifically:

Identify the right type of AI for a given Lean task and explain why it fits.
Write focused prompts using the CRAFT framework, built on the problem-framing discipline you already apply.
Map AI across each phase of PDCA and know where judgment must stay in the lead.
Apply AI to value stream mapping, 5 Whys, A3, and standard work.
Spot errors, hallucinations, and weak assumptions before acting on AI output.
Assess data readiness before relying on AI for reliable value.
Apply a seven-question responsible-use checklist to any AI-assisted task.
Judge whether a predictive analytics output is reliable enough to act on.
Identify bias risks before applying AI-assisted recommendations.
Complete an applied exercise that brings every module together in a real context.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Lean practitioners at any experience level, White Belt through Black Belt or equivalent. Whether you are early in your practice or seasoned, the program builds AI fluency on top of the improvement thinking you already have, and shows how to integrate AI with the Lean tools you already use.

No. The program is built as an individual practitioner skill, not an organizational rollout. It works whatever your access looks like, whether that is a general tool like ChatGPT, something your organization provides, or nothing formal yet. There is no prerequisite on your organization's side and nothing that needs approval before you start.

Structure and judgment. Most practitioners who have started with AI use it for general tasks like drafting and summarizing. This program focuses on applying it to the improvement work itself, framing a problem, running a 5 Whys, building an A3, reading a value stream, and on knowing where AI helps versus where your judgment has to stay in charge. A large part of it is learning to catch weak or inaccurate output before you act on it, and to check whether your data is reliable enough to use in the first place, both of which are easy to miss when you are using AI on your own.

No. The program assumes you know Lean, not AI. It builds your AI fluency from the ground up, using your existing improvement knowledge as the foundation.

No specific or paid tool is required. The approach works with any general-purpose AI assistant, including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, so you can apply what you learn with whatever your organization already provides. The focus is on how to direct AI and judge what it returns, not on any one product.

The self-paced online program is 7.5 hours total and flexible. Start and stop whenever it suits you, with up to one month of access. An instructor-led option is available for groups from your organization, scheduled on request and subject to a minimum number of participants.

A digital badge issued through Accredible, valid for two years and shareable on LinkedIn. It signals structured, practitioner-level AI training connected to Lean improvement work.

Yes. The program is built on Lean principles that apply across sectors, and the frameworks are grounded in improvement practice rather than industry-specific context, so healthcare practitioners can apply what they learn immediately. If your organization wants a version delivered specifically for your teams, contact us about instructor-led options tailored to healthcare.

No. This is a standalone program focused on how AI applies to Lean improvement work. It complements belt certification but does not replace it, and you can take it at any point in your Lean practice.
